(Livraison d'hier.)

Amine,
You're right. But what's done is done. Now is time to realize that we have to leave post-colonialism and enter the era of construction of societies and deconstruction of so many myths.

Loula,
I fully concur with you. The purpose of my statement is just that the legacy of colonialism is still hindering an appropriate construction of these societies. Of course we need to move ahead, of course it would be vain to keep pondering over the misdeeds of UK empire & Commonwealth era, but the fact is that the leaders of these very societies are still manipulated by other governments.
Bhutto was an ineffective and inefficient leader of Pakistan, corrupted, greedy, and her (fake) fame was widely spread outside Pakistan, in particular in Westen countries, but People of Pakistan had already been very disappointed by Bhutto was she was in power, they did not like her that much. Just take the instance of women's right, she did not change anything to them, because of her arrangements with the islamic radicals to remain in power...
So when she returned a few months ago, it was just again a win-win agreement between her and Uncle Sam (the same with to Karzai in Afghanistan), as she appeared to be an appropriate joker... but she was not! Nawaz Sharif is not either. And to be honest, Musharraf remains unfortunately for the time being the "least worst". He's a tightrope walker, doing with the US in one hand, the islamists in the other hand and the military forces behind him. Very thin balance. So where do all this land? A boiling deadlock where islamists get more and more popular day after day, the army continues to face substantial losses and might enforce a replacement of Musharraf by one of his former peers, and the US will continue to play the good Uncle just because of their imperious obligation to monitor Pakistan as it has the Nuclear Bomb. Hopeless? Yes. Because the result won't be better, and islamists keep scattering the seeds of their hatred.

Hello again Amine,

Hubby and I had the same conversation yesterday. Democracy can only come fron within.
Pakistan is still going to hold election in January. Musharaf needs to go, I tend not to believe army men and putchists. It is going to be a rough year and yes you are right the Atomic Bomb is going to be on the agenda.
Have an excellent week end
