Who is the first Moroccan blogger? Those familiar with the commonly called blogoma know this is the moorishgirl.com, i.e. Laila Lalami.
I was in Morocco last week, in Casablanca, and Laila kindly accepted to go for a coffee. I was truly honored and delighted to meet her. Not because she is an interesting blogger, or the well-known author of the blockbuster "Hope and Other Dangerous Pursuits" (already translated in 5 languages!). More exactly because she is a highly cultured and educated person, cheerful, genuine, a real lady.
We had a very nice and open conversation. Hereafter is an excerpt where she even unveils the starting point of her new novel.

Amine, what a scoop! Laila is practically Moroccan royalty - as far as I'm concerned, I'd rather meet her than the King! I can't wait until her next novel comes out.

Hi Amine,

I "met" Laila years ago on the net. She is a great person to talk to and interact with.
